New Wave Marine give us an insight into how grant funding transformed their business

As one of Granted’s successful clients, New Wave Marine secured funding from Plymouth and the South West Peninsula City Deal which provided them with £60,550 of grant funding to expand their local business to offer services in the export market.

New Wave Marine is a company that provides Waste Management Services to the Marine Industry operating in a number of dockyards and ports, mainly in the West Country including Naval dockyards. This involves the cleaning out of dirty waters, oils and waste from ships of all shapes and sizes, and from some land-based facilities such as storage tanks.

Following their grant funding success, New Wave Marine has been able to scale their west country-based business to a company now branching out into the global marketplace. With a growing team of now 20 employees and expanded services such as specialist confined space entry and rescue and, their rapid response team, New Wave Marine have transformed into a national award-winning business.

“When establishing NWM in 2014, the funding application which Granted managed for us was fundamental to starting a business in this highly competitive sector, now 4 years on the legacy from the success of the funding award see’s NWM moving to new, larger premises in Plymouth as our fleet of vehicles, service provision requirement, and more office space and facilities becomes essential for continued growth. The business now employs ’s 20 staff, with numbers peaking to 40 at busy times. NWM is expanding its UK operations, and also now entering the European marketplace to provide the high standards of service that are a pre-requisite in the UK to other nations”
